Badgers are Minecraft Legends mobs that some have theorized will be added into the original game.

Badgers are friendly mobs that sniff out buried treasures hidden underground. More information will be revealed once the game is open.
Addition to the Main Game Theory[]
Minecraft Legends takes place before the game of Minecraft. It shows many new mobs that are could be extinct in the game, such as ancient golems, and a yellow variant of the allay. However in real life, badgers are not extinct, and as Minecraft is somewhat based off of the real world, so it would make no sense that an animal that is alive in real life, would be extinct in Minecraft, similar to the Nautilus, a mob that is alive in the real world, but is a fossil in minecraft.
