Bigfoot

Bigfoot

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is an ape-like creature that some people believe inhabits the forests of Modded Minecraft. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid.

It was very likely introduced due to the popular myth in the Northern Forest Mod, which Usac, the mod's creator, confirmed to be fake.

However, due to the popularity of the myth, the mod maker gave in and added bigfoot to the game. The original release looked like a Gigantopithecus, which was an extinct genus of ape from roughly 2 million to 350,000 years ago during the Early to Middle Pleistocene of southern China. The fans of the mod however didn't like the way the gigantopithecus prototype looked too much like an orangutan, so Uusac changed it, mostly because gigantopithecus didn't live in forests of North America, where the mod is based on. If a bigfoot falls into powdered snow, it can become a yeti, which is even more powerful.

The bigfoot is a neutral mob that is a mostly illusive creature, that walks around dark oak forests. It used to be found in taigas and oak forests as well, but Usac thought that it would be cooler if it was rarer, and the dark oak forest is rare too. Bigfoots can sense if a player is in a 13 block radius, and will run away from the player. The bigfoot will attack the player if the player manages to catch it. The bigfoot does 20 hearts of damage, and has 100 health. The bigfoot drops a heart of the forest, which can be crafted into the forestry compass, which points to any of these biome the player combines with in the crafting table:

  • Oak Sapling- Forest
  • Birch Sapling- Birch Forest
  • Spruce Sapling- Taiga
  • Jungle Sapling- Jungle
  • Dark Oak Sapling- Dark Oak Forest
  • Cherry Sapling- Cherry Grove (Upcoming)

The original design for the bigfoot

Similar to the yeti, if given an apple, a bigfoot will help you by throwing mobs into trees. Bigfoots will be afraid of the player unless the player gives it one of these items; Saplings, Apples, Crops, Diamonds, Emeralds, or Gold. Then the bigfoot will no longer be afraid. If a Dark Oak biome spawns next to a swamp, it has the ability to spawn as a skunk ape, and if it is sunken into powered snow, it becomes a yeti.
