Budgerigars, known as budgies, are small colorful parrots found in the wild of Australia. They eat seeds and are often kept as house pets.
Budgerigar Concept
Budgerigars spawn naturally in the overworld in groups of two to three. They can be found in jungles and savannahs.
Drops[]
When a budgerigar is killed, it drops:
- 0-2 feathers.
- 1 raw bird meat (1 cooked bird meat if killed while on fire).
- 1-3 XP when killed by a player or tamed wolf.
Behaviour[]
Budgerigars are able to fly and will flee if players come near. They will be attracted to a player holding seeds. They do not take fall damage.
If in a loaded chunk, an adult budgerigar will lay a budgerigar egg every 5-10 minutes.
Breeding[]
If two adult budgerigars are fed wheat seeds, melon seeds, pumpkin seeds or beetroot seeds, a baby budgerigar will spawn. The colour of the baby will depend on the parent; it has a 50% of being the same colour as its father, and a 50% chance of being the same as its mother.
Baby budgerigars can also be spawned by hatching a budgerigar egg. The colour of the baby will match its mother. An egg with a higher spawn rate will have a better chance of hatching successfully.
