Mandarin ducks wander randomly, preferring to go towards water. Ducklings will follow a nearby adult mandarin duck. Being diurnal, they sleep at night.

Mandarin ducks can be bred with bread or seeds. Males and females can be easily distinguished by their plumage color. Females lay 1-8 eggs, and each egg has a 60% chance to hatch.

Mandarin ducks spawn in river and forest biomes. Their default spawn weight is 25, and they spawn in groups of 2-3.
