Phoenix

Phoenixes are large legendary birds. Their bodies are covered in red feathers shimmering with magic. They have long orange feathers on their wings and black eyes.

Spawning[]

Phoenixes are not found in the wild, but are instead hatched from phoenix eggs. Hatching the egg in different environments can alter the genetic behaviour of the phoenix.

Drops[]

When an adult phoenix is killed, it drops:

1 variant-specific phoenix egg.
50-60 XP when killed by a player or tamed wolf.

The phoenix will also drop a saddle if it had one equipped.

Behaviour[]

A fully grown phoenix can be ridden by right-clicking it with a saddle. It can be flown by using space to ascend, and left control to descend. To dismount a phoenix, press the crouch key. This can only be done when the phoenix is settled on the ground.

To remove a saddle, crouch and right-click the bird with some shears. If a phoenix dies with a saddle equipped, the saddle will drop and the player will dismount.

Phoenixes give off a particle effect which will change depending on their happiness.

Breeding[]

Phoenixes cannot breed. The only way to obtain multiple phoenixes is to find more eggs.

Healing[]

Phoenixes can be fed ambrosia to heal 10 health points. All variants can also be healed using splash potions of healing .

Variants[]

Hatching the egg in different environments can alter the genetic behaviour of the phoenix. See Phoenix Egg#Hatching for more information. Each phoenix has slightly different abilities.

Regular Phoenix[]

Emits fire particles when happy and smoke particles when wet.

Regular phoenixes are heat-resistant and will not be damaged by the high temperatures of lava and fire.

Water blocks will cause damage to the regular phoenix. Rain will not cause damage, but will reduce its particle effects.

Cloud Phoenix[]

Cloud Phoenix: Hatch the egg above the clouds (y > 128). Immune to water damage.

Desert Phoenix[]

Desert Phoenix: Hatch the egg in a desert biome.

Ender Phoenix[]

Ender Phoenix: Hatch the egg in the End. It will take damage in water, and will teleport if it comes in contact with it.

Nether Phoenix[]

Nether Phoenix: Hatch the egg in the Nether. Immune to fire damage.

Skeleton Phoenix[]

Skeleton Phoenix: Hatch the egg in an underground cave biome. Immune to water damage and fire damage.

Snow Phoenix[]

Snow Phoenix: Hatch the egg in a snowy biome. It will take damage in warm biomes, such as Jungles and Deserts. Immune to water damage.

Twilight Phoenix[]

Twilight Phoenix: Hatch the egg during a full moon (the daylight cycle must be on). Immune to water damage.

Water Phoenix[]

Water Phoenix: Hatch the egg in an ocean biome. Immune to water damage.
